Our History

God has wonderfully blessed our church over the years. The Strehlow family moved to Liberty to plant a “daughter church” under the auspices of Tri-City Ministries in Independence, Missouri. A handful of families first met in Pastor Strehlow’s home for Bible study and prayer on Wednesday evenings prior to seeking an official starting location.

Prayer was answered in the spring of 2000 when Liberty Public School’s new superintendent reversed a policy decision that had prohibited churches from renting public school facilities for weekly services. Our “kick-off” service at Schumacher Elementary School was held on May 21, 2000.

Liberty Hills became fully self-supporting in October of 2002, then chartered members on January 5, 2003. Shortly thereafter due to the need for expanded facilities, services were moved to South Valley Middle School where the church continued to grow.

We are very excited about the Lord’s provision for our future! In October of 2006 we purchased seven acres of property from Liberty Public Schools with funds from our building program. This future building site rests adjacent to our present meeting facility, Warren Hills Elementary School, where we presently meet for church services. Our property overlooks Interstate 35 to the south and is bordered by A-Hwy on the east, Camille Street on the north, and Warren Hills Elementary School on the west. The area is poised for incredible growth as New Town at Liberty (a 926 acre, $2 billion traditional-style residential and mixed-use development) looks to break ground within the next couple of years.
